Hear Me Roar

Alright. So first a confession. I stopped painting there for a while. Then I started again with the figures I am about to show you... But my painting ADD kicked in and I started painting two other different groups of figures.. After a good month of jumping around from figure to figure I gave myself a deadline... Paint these two before I leave on holidays for a week..

So as I sit here packing up for my trip tomorrow morning, I present to you Beowa in human and bear form from Mierce Miniatures. Cut it close, but I made it ;)

BEOWA - HUMAN

Sorry for the poor pictures of this guy - they get a little better for the bear - I am just rusty ;)

I think I am finally getting a little more comfortable with how far to highlight certain areas. Still hate painting red though. Only way to get good at it is to paint a model with half the surface area red!

Here, on the cloak, is a better example of my use of highlights. Definitely a lot more pronounced then some of my previous efforts ;)

Yes, I noticed the little flesh paint on his armband, and I have since rectified the problem!

BEOWA - BEAR

Where I struggled both take pictures of, and at times painting, the human form.. I feel Beowa-bear has got to be my best attempt at painting yet. I am pretty proud of him... no glaring errors that I am aware of. I also feel I had much improved brush control while painting this model. Enough talking, pictures!

In particular I think my blending on the browns in the leather has improved (if you haven't yet, take a look at my previous posts to see what I mean ;)
I also attempted a bit more of a zenithal light source, as is most evident in the reds and metals.
As always, I know I am far from a pro, so constructive criticism, or compliments, are always welcome in the comments down below :)
Now back to packing!
